Abbotsford to Hope

Abbotsford to Hope

We got out of the campground about 9am. Hit the Bread Garden for coffee, and bread for later. So more like 10am before we really got anywhere. We took Hwy 11 north to Mission, and crossed the Fraser. The river is incredibly high right now, and full of uprooted trees floating down. The small islands are just treetrunks sticking out of the water.
We made a little jog to get onto Hwy 7, with a massively steep, but short ramp to get up.  Then you just keep going east. The area around Deroche is incredibly flat, and you can roll along at a pretty good clip. Some rollers and small hills as we approach Agassiz, which seems like a nice little town-not that we really explored too much. We had a rest in the park, then found some food. A guy approached us on his bike- I think he'd be more like "Vagrant: than "Tourist" , but he was nice enough. Offered me a drink fri=om his travel mug (very unclean). Beer and Coffee (for the caffeine). I did decline that offer. He also told us about the ride ahead-3 1/2 hours to Hope, and a really big uphill before getting there.  I think we rode about 1 1/2 hours, and never found any big hills.
We were debating whether to go north on Hwy 1 when we joined it, or to just go into Hope. When we reached the junction, we looked at the fairlly big uphill going north, and said "Hope".  We had stopped at the weigh scales on Hwy 7 to see if my friend Dave was working.  The guy at the scales thought we wanted to weigh the bikes. Dave was working another scale across the river somewhere.
We got into Hope, and found a spot at the campground by the river. Pretty quiet place, and I walked over and got a six pack of beer from the pub down the block.
