Hope to Boston Bar
We left Hope about 830am. the climb out of town is a good warmup-about 4km and 20 minutes. This is an absolutely gorgeour ride through the Fraser Canyon. It is definitely hilly, but nothing too terrible. We stopped for a while in Yale, a big part of BC's gold ming history. The museum wasn't open, but we did wander around town a bit. We also passed the metropolis of Spuzzum. There are also some tunnels to go through, which maybe aren't fun, but aren't terrifying either. I believe that now they all have warning lights for cyclists to use (like at pedestrian crossings) so you don't surprise any motorists. We stopped at Hell's Gate, and did the tourist thing-rode the tram down to the river level, ate some of their food, and took a bunch of photos. It's a very commercial operation, and I don't know if I'd stop there again-maybe, but I was glad we stopped this time. Of course staff there had to tellus all the horror stories of cyclists being hit in the tunnels, and no way should you ride them.
We ened our day at the Mountain Alpine Campground in Boston Bar. It's an OK place- they have showers and grqassed sites, but it is close to the highway, and we could hear traffic all night. I think Marilyn maybe got a little too much sun today because she was pretty irritable when we were making dinner and I suggested she go have a shower. Anyway, I slept fine, Marilyn didn't but we all survived.
