Clinton(almost) to Lac La Hache

Clinton(almost) to Lac La Hache

Up early today-like 4am as Marilyn said we were going to make some miles before the heat set in. We started with a snmall climb, to finish what we started yesterday, then down into Clinton. Looks like a nice little town, but it was stil asleep, and nothing open at that hour. Then a big climb from there to Big Bar Lake Road (as warned about yesterday), then a while later we hit the climb to Begbie Summit. I think its the high point of this trip-1237 meters, or about 4000 feet. Definitely stop for a photo of that. We stopped for breakfast at the Corral Cafe at 70 Mile House. Big breakfast, and great food. From Begbie on, the road is just kind of rolling, then a big descent into 100 Mile House. On the descent highways crews had the curb alne closed for crack sealing, so we just used it as our own private road.
100Mile House seems like a nice little town. Did our shopping at Safeway, had lunch at Tim Hortons, then headed out toward Lac La Hache- "The Longest Town in the Cariboo". Not sure why that is important, but I guess you need some slogan to identify with. We had about 30km to go, or so we thought. Turns out that when we get there, we still have about 5 km to go to the turnoff to my Aunt's place.
My Aunt Theresa and Uncle Johnny are awesome hosts, and awesome people. We spent about a day and a half there-eating too much, drinking beer and wine, and going for rides in the boat. The house sits right on the lake, and they have a big deck where you can watch loons swim by, eagles overhead, and hummingbirds zipping around.
